Days 4 to 6 (HB) - At Leisure to explore the sights & attractions in Austria including Kitzbuhel, Zell am See, the Grossglockner Glacier and Krimml Falls to mention just a few.
Day 15 (HB) - Wurzburg to Verviers - Today you have the choice of taking the direct route via Limburg and Koblenz or a more scenic drive through the spectacular Rhine Valley. Overnight at the Van der Valk Hotel Verviers with Dinner included - Mileage - Direct Route approx. 250 miles / Scenic Route approx. 265 miles.
Day 8 (HB) - Breakfast followed by the day at leisure to explore Linz, the European Capital of Culture in 2009, and in 2014 Austria’s third-largest city became a Unesco City of Media Arts. Sitting astride the Danube, Linz is not only a contemporary hub but also harbours a charming Altstadt filled with historic baroque architecture. Returning to the hotel late afternoon you'll be transferred to the CroisiEurope cruise terminal in Linz where you'll board your river cruise ship, MS Modigliani. After settling into your cabins, you'll be introduced to the crew at a welcome cocktail followed and dinner. Secure car parking has been arranged at the Hotel Wolfsegger for the duration on the cruise.
Day 7 (HB) - Kirchberg/St Johann to Engerwitzdorf, Nr Linz. Today you'll enjoy the scenic drive via Bavaria and Salzburg as you make your way to Engerwitzdorf & Linz for your overnight stay at the Hotel Wolfsegger. Hitler's Eagles Nest, Lake Konigsee, the beautiful city of Salzburg ans the opportunity to visit Austria's Lake District. Dinner is included at the hotel - Mileage approx. 150 miles
Day 9 (FB) - Overnight cruising from Linz to Vienna where you'll arrive early morning with the day at leisure or, Optional Excursions in Vienna include:
Visit to Schönbrunn Palace, former summer residence of the imperial family & Vienna tour
The High Art of Viennese living (Music and Viennese cafes). You'll stroll through the city and visit back stage in the Konzerthaus concert hall. After our tour, enjoy a steaming cup of Vienna Coffee and a delicious pastry.
Visit to Hofburg Palace.
In the evening there's a Tour of Vienna by Night.
Day 10 (FB) - Overnight cruising from Vienna to Budapest where you'll arrive late morning with the remainder of the day at leisure or, Optional Excursions in Budapest include:
Sightseeing Tour of Budapest, once two distinct cities that united only in 1873.
Budapest by bike during which you'll see all the important sights of the city on an easy-paced ride, cycling through the historical center of Hungarian culture and many other legendary sites in Budapest.
In the evening you can enjoy some "operetta music” on board.
Day 11 (FB) - At leisure in Budapest with the day at leisure or, Optional Excursion includes:
A Visit the Puszta, the Pannonian steppe grasslands with a typical regional lunch included. Also known as the Great Plain, this vast prairie was the once the wild west of Hungary, and immense herds of livestock grazed here under the watchful eye of the cowboys.
Day 12 (FB) - Overnight cruising from Budapest to Bratislava where you'll arrive late morning with the remainder of the day at leisure or, Optional Excursions in Bratislava include:
Guided Tour of Bratislava. The charm of the Slovakian capital lies in its old city with splendid Baroque palaces, churches and pleasant squares.
Hiking in The Little Carpathians. From Devin Castle, you'll take in the splendid view of Bratislava.
Tonight you'll enjoy a gala evening and dinner on board
Day 13 (FB) - Overnight cruising from Bratislava to Dürnstein where you'll arrive in morning with free time to explore the fortified village where Richard the Lionheart was once held prisoner. From Dürnstein you'll cruise to Melk via the wonderful Wachau Valley. The afternoon is at leisure in Melk or enjoy an Optional excursion to:
Visit the Melk Abbey. Originally a Baroque-style palace built between 1702 and 1736, it is now a Benedictine monastery that hosts a prestigious coed school with more than 900 students.
Day 14 (HB) - Morning arrival in Linz - Disembarkation from the ship will be after breakfast followed by the transfer back to Engerwitzdorf and the Hotel to collect your car. Today your journey takes to through Germany to Wurzburg, where you'll enjoy an overnight stop at the Hotel with dinner included - Mileage approx. 275 miles
Day 16 (BB) - Verviers to Calais for a late afternoon crossing back to the UK
